Mai Maasina Green Belt Team Visit and Dialogues with Members.
Malaita Province, Solomon Islands- On the March 19, The Vice Chairman of MMGB Mr. Albert Kwatelae with an executive rep Mr. Felix Naitoro, Admin Officer Ms. Immaculate Tautauhono, Mapping Officer Ms.Sharon Uhiaro and Cultural Officer Mr. Charles Ha’ahoikeni, embarked on a crucial site visitation to its members in Are’are and Kwaio region of Malaita Province.
The primary purpose of this visit was to gather comprehensive feedback from each member site regarding the progress of ongoing activities, the challenges faced, and the lessons learned thus far. By listening to the local voices, the team aimed to identify needs and formulate actionable strategies for future endeavors. Part of the site visit is to foster collaboration and understanding among local community members and the organization.
The team conducted their visitation with the eastern, southern, and western cluster members. A total of more than 30 sites were visited and dialogues were held at. The site tour is an opportunity for the people to openly share concerns, needs, paths they envisioned for moving forward and open dialogues.
The site visit has remarkably highlighted several challenges that needed addressing for both the members and organization. The communication barrier is the most vastly mentioned inconvenience which is often associated with miscommunications amongst the association.
Significant insights and observations were identified during the trip. Such visitation is very important towards Mai Maasina Green Belts strategic work plan and improving of project allocation hence implementation.
Additionally, the tour successfully captured the essential feedback and experiences required for continued development. By acknowledging both the challenges faced and the needs expressed by community members, the team is well-positioned to refine future efforts and ensure a collaborative approach to overcoming obstacles together.
