Mai Maasina Green Belt

Welcome to our website. Mai Maasina Green Belt (MMGB) is an incorporated non-profit community-based organization in 2017 under the Charitable Trust Act (1996), committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable use of resources in the Southern region of Malaita Province in the Solomon Islands.

Our mission is to create a network of communities and collaborate with local government and international organizations to address conservation and climate change issues. MMGB advocates for intact forest management, wildlife protection, and cultural preservation to promote social and green economic development.

At MMGB, we understand that the biodiversity within the Solomon Islands is under continuous pressure from various threats such as habitat destruction, overexploitation, waste pollution, invasive species, and climate change. We have identified some key priority areas to address these issues.

Our strategic management goals are grouped into three categories, and we have developed action plans and proposed activities to address them. These categories are:

  • Biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of resources
  • Climate change adaptation and mitigation
  • Cultural preservation and community development

We have technical skills, expertise, and experiences that we utilize to drive the interests of our community and protect the land. Our goal is to benefit current and future generations and all the organisms that live within.

Join us as we work towards protecting the environment, promoting sustainable use of resources, and supporting the communities in the Southern region of Malaita Province.

Let’s work together to
build a better future
